FACE-IT invited to expert panel on EU-US Arctic Cooperation

On 06 May, FACE-IT project coordinator Kai Bischof (Marine Botany, University of Bremen) participated as expert in a panel on EU-US Arctic cooperation, hosted by the Polar Institute and the Global Europe Program of the Wilson Center (Washington DC, US) and co-organized by the European Union.

The livestreamed event discussed the global importance of Arctic science and research, focussing on the questions how science diplomacy can support the safety and stability of Arctic regions and how the US and EU scientific communities can improve cooperation to build bridges of understanding in a world moving towards strategic competition.

Speakers included Ambassador Jovita Neliupšienė (EU Ambassador to the US), Dr. Michael Sfraga (USARC), Ambassador David Balton (AESC), and Dr. Mahlet Mesfin (US Department of State).

Furthermore, representatives of several EU-funded research projects have been invited and contributed with their results: FACE-IT, CHARTERNunataryukINTERACTArctic PASSION, and EU-PolarNet 2. All projects are members of the EU Polar Cluster.
